The boys volleyball team celebrated a 3-0 win against Newington on Tuesday, May 14th after a tough loss to Glastonbury last week.

The team’s record following the game is now 10-4, and they are set to participate in the state tournament with over the 8 wins needed to qualify.

With the win against Newington, the team is on track to have a chance at the CCC tournament.

The boys also had a game Wednesday, May 15th against Windsor. The team won 3-0 to update the record to 11-4. While the team took the sweep, the second set was a tough fight for the team with a score of 25-27. Eoin Gately and Alex Ezedine had a great game leading the team to the win.

The team will play another game on Thursday, May 16th against East Hartford. East Hartford is a strong team taking a win against Glastonbury in only 3 sets, where the Bobcats clawed to a 5th set and unfortunately lost.

The rest of the season is promising, I think we continue to get better and more passionate for the game as we get closer to states

Senior night will be next Monday, May 20th against Cheshire, with their last game of the regular season, the boys have just over a week to improve their record and standings before the CCC tournament and state tournament.

With 9 seniors, out of their 13 player roster, the way things are right now ,the team is looking like they will have a more difficult season next year as there will only be 4 returning players. The standout player is sophomore middle blocker, Owen Jerr.

“The team for the next few years is looking solid; the new guys are definitely watching the seniors now and are learning the ropes fairly fast.We should be good, although it’s going to be hard to get back from losing 9 seniors,” Jerr explained.
