During the month of January, senior Charlotte Laramee was featured as Connecticut High School Coaches Association Female Hockey Player of the Week at the South Windsor Hockey Arena, marking a major achievement in the athlete’s hockey career.
Her skill and achievements as a hockey player were recognized on this occasion, but Laramee boasts a plethora of other accolades as well. As a student athlete, Laramee works tirelessly to balance academic endeavors with her sporting activities.
Her impact is evident not only in the statistics but in the energy she brings to the ice.
“Charlie is a very valuable asset to our team and always skates hard during games and practices and knows how to bring the energy to the bench,” Lilah Bolduc said.
That relentless effort has helped lead the team to an impressive 11-4 record this season.
Laramee’s commitment to the sport is showcased by her consistent efforts throughout the years. Laramee started playing hockey at the early age of 3, joining an official team at the age of 6. She currently plays for the CT Storm, as South Windsor High School does not have the numbers to support a girls ice hockey team independently.
Just like any sport, playing hockey hasn’t been an easy path for Laramee. Despite her love for the sport and proficiency, she, of course, has difficult days.
“The game feels faster and more competitive. On days being off it’s a lot slower and harder to focus, smaller mistakes feel a lot bigger but I always like to stay positive and keep a good mindset.”
Last year, Laramee’s hockey achievements were formally recognized, receiving a ceremony at the conference game. Laramee was one of the few players recognized during this event receiving All Conference. With a great season underway, featuring consistent wins on Laramee’s part, this acknowledgement served to showcase Laramee and her achievements.
Her genuine love for hockey has always been the primary reason for which she pursues and thrives in the sport, along with her ability to connect with teammates, family and coaches.
“My favorite thing about hockey is the friends you make, the lessons you learn, becoming more confident and being able to play a sport I love,” Laramee explained.
As Laramee advances in her ice hockey career, she continues to sharpen her skills and step into a leadership role on and off the ice. Laramee’s recognition of Player of the Week is a testament to her athletic literacy, and a promise of her future achievements.
Laramee was nominated again for Girls Ice Hockey Player of the Week in Connecticut. She received this honor once already this season and this could be her second time, which would make her the first player to get this honor twice in a season.
