New And Upcoming Businesses in South Windsor

Domino’s, a nationwide pizza chain, is opening a new location in South Windsor at 154 Sullivan Avenue. The restaurant will join other shops at the Sullivan Corner Plazas, a new commercial development.

Current tenants of the shopping center include bakery Hartford Baking Company and restaurant Dazzling Pho N’ Drinks.

Junior Jayden Goudreault, though happy about the prospects of a new pizza spot in town, also has some criticisms.

“Considering that we already have a lot of food establishments in South Windsor, I don’t really see the importance of it, but I like Domino’s, so I don’t really have a problem with them making it,” Goudreault told The Prowl.

While the question of too many restaurants may weigh in the minds of some South Windsor residents, others may find the new Domino’s location a welcome addition to the community.

GAP Factory Store

GAP, a nationwide clothes retailer, is opening a new factory store location in The Shops at Evergreen Walk. The GAP Factory Store, in comparison to a typical GAP store, offers cheaper and budget-friendly options for its customers.

This is not the first time GAP will establish a presence in South Windsor, as they previously held a location in the Shops at Evergreen Walk. They are slated to open soon.

Some South Windsor High School students are excited for the new store to open, including junior Disha Hosamani.

“I think it’d be a good addition to [Evergreen Walk] because it just gives people more places to shop at,” Hosamani said.

This sentiment is likely shared with other town residents, giving them something to look forward to as the GAP Factory store prepares to open soon.

Wukong Tea

Wukong Tea recently opened a new location in the Town Center plaza, joining anchor Stop and Shop as well as other tenants, such as restaurant Sal’s Pizza and consignment shop Uptown Consignment. Wukong Tea serves bubble tea, as well as a variety of desserts.

South Windsor High School students, such as junior Abigail Ambooken, are happy to have a new bubble tea spot to visit.

“Wukong Tea is a very exciting new addition to our South Windsor community as many people really do like bubble tea,” Ambooken told The Prowl.

Ambooken is one of numerous other South Windsor residents that are elated with the new bubble tea place in town, truly giving the business a warm welcome.

Cold Stone Creamery

Cold Stone, a renowned ice cream parlor, opened its doors at 19 Cedar Avenue, joining other tenants such as Chipotle, Starbucks, and PeoplesBank at the Cedar Crossing at Evergreen Walk development.

The parlor serves ice cream as well as milkshakes, smoothies, and cakes.

This is not Cold Stone’s first location in South Windsor, as they once operated in The Shops at Evergreen Walk before closing in 2014.

Since the location has opened, South Windsor High School senior Briana Nkrumah has developed positive opinions on it.

“It’s like my new favorite ice cream place. Everyone who works there is always really chill, and the ice cream and smoothies are really good,” Nkrumah said.

The return of Cold Stone to South Windsor seems to be one well-received, as locals are enjoying the frozen delicacies the location has to offer.
