Monday, September 11th marked the first official game of the 2023-2024 South Windsor Girls Volleyball season. The Lady Bobcats faced E.O. Smith High School securing a victory for the Freshman, JV, and Varsity Volleyball teams.
The varsity volleyball team had the opportunity to participate in a jamboree tournament on September 2nd, giving them the chance to develop their skills as a team prior to the start of the season.
Unfortunately, due to the heat wave, the girls volleyball game against Bristol Eastern, taking place on September 7th was postponed to a later date. Despite this setback, the teams saw this as a blessing in disguise as they were able to acquire extra practice time in preparation for the upcoming season.
Volleyball is an enjoyable sport for South Windsor High School student-athletes. The environment created by both the coaches and the team allows exciting and productive practices and games.
“My favorite part of playing volleyball is being with the team and having fun, but also staying focused and getting things done,” Senior Janaya Nti told The Prowl.
The season goals are always the same, we will continue to play a competitive elevated game, using teamwork, technical skills, and tenacity to qualify for both the CCC’s and State Tournament — Varsity Coach, Ryan Mintzer-Woodcock
As the Lady Bobcats prep themselves for the upcoming match against RHAM High School, anticipation hangs in the air. However, the steady expectations of the coaching staff leave the athletes equipped and ready to execute.
“I am looking forward to the memories and progress we are going to make as a team,” Sophomore Makalya McGrath told The Prowl.
