Pop Smoke Reportedly Killed During Home Invasion Robbery

Early Wednesday morning, young and upcoming rapper, Pop Smoke, was reportedly shot and killed in a home invasion in the Hollywood Hills. Pop Smoke, born as Bashar Barakah Jackson, was believed to have suffered multiple life-threatening gunshot wounds, and was ultimately determined dead at a local hospital shortly after. He was 20 years old.
According to TMZ, two intruders broke into Smoke’s home around 4:30 a.m., when nearby residents reportedly heard several gunshots, and saw the suspects flee on foot. One indivIdual was put in custody, but then was later released as it was determined the individual had no involvement in the murder. No other individuals have been arrested.
Pop Smoke, whose 2019 single “Welcome to the Party” became a viral hit and saw remixes from Skepta and Nicki Minaj, released the deluxe edition of his Meet the Woo Vol. 2 project earlier this month. He also appeared on Travis Scott’s 2019 JackBoys comp cut “Gatti.”
“This rapping is just another step in my life,” Pop Smoke told XXL earlier this year when reflecting on his rise. “There’s no telling what I might do after this.”
