On Friday, May 15th, students from the Class of 2027 came together at the Downtown Hartford Marriott to celebrate one of the most memorable events of their high school experience: junior prom.
Students arrived dressed in elegant gowns and suits, many with bouquets, corsages, or boutonnières. From the moment students entered the venue, it was clear that this was going to be a very special experience for everyone in attendance.
The venue was beautifully decorated, with custom centerpieces designed for the event by a local flower shop. Students were able to socialize with each other beyond the dance floor, with a photobooth station open to all students, as well as couches, tables, desserts, and drink stations.
The banquet tables and dance floor were located within the ballroom. Attendees had access to the dinner buffet at 7:00, and once the dinner service ended, overhead lights shut off and neon lights turned on, setting the scene for an energetic evening. The DJ played a mix of popular songs throughout the evening, even featuring songs from different languages, including Hindi, Spanish and English, so there was something for everyone.
Prom gave students the opportunity to relax with their friends, serving as a well deserved break after AP exams. For many students, the event was an important milestone in their high school experience, creating memories that will last long after the school year ends.
SWHS junior, Erin Fang, shared that her favorite part of the evening was the dancing. “I really enjoyed dancing as a group with my friends on the dance floor. The photographer also took a lot of candid pictures of us while dancing, which was fun,” said Fang.
As the night came to an end, students slowly made their way out of the venue, taking with them the photos and memories of the evening. This year’s junior prom gave students a chance to celebrate their high school experience, and enjoy a memorable night with their friends and classmates.
