Student Council’s Annual Trivia night is coming up fast, giving the South Windsor High School community something to look forward to. On March 27th, the high school cafeteria will be filled with teams of students and teachers competing for a range of prizes, as well as bragging rights.
The event commences at 6:00pm and runs till 8:00pm. Pizza and raffle opportunities will be provided to attendees, making the time enjoyable for all. In addition, the top three places are awarded with prizes that are provided by the Student Council.
Sign ups will begin the week of March 16th, taking place during lunchwaves. Up to 5 people are allowed to join per team, and may consist of both students and staff. The cost of participation is $5 per team member, teams must pay in full in order to be registered.
With their team, students and staff will work together to answer trivia questions provided by the Student Council. A team allows the opportunity to increase chances of winning, and having a fun time. When working as one, there’s nothing that can’t be done.
The annual Trivia Night at SWHS has been hosted since 2019 and the reputation has been carrying on since. The reviews have been good, with people saying that it was ‘lots of fun’ and ‘worth it.’
“We hope over 120 students and teachers will join in on the fun for a great event for the community,” Student Council Advisor Haley Stewart told The Prowl.
While prizes are yet to be revealed, they are the incentive for the SWHS community to sign up early. Early sign ups provide a number of benefits for teams, including a closer spot to the projected screens, and bonus points. First day sign ups are awarded 3 bonus points, second day sign ups are awarded 2 bonus points and third day sign ups are awarded 1 bonus point.
Every trivia night has been unique with different categories being presented, making the experience equally thrilling for returning attendees. To refresh, there are 8 different categories, with 5 questions for each one.
This year’s categories are pop culture, toys/games and apps, movies and tv shows, sports, SWHS, music, food and SWHS school subjects. A range of question templates will be provided, including “guess who?”, multiple choices, fill in the blank and more.
“I went to the Trivia Night last year, and it was lots of fun,” sophomore Diva Shajith told The Prowl. “I definitely plan on going again this year.”
Individuals looking for a night full of enjoyment, socializing, and competition should plan on attending. Only time will tell who the 2026 Trivia Nights Winners will be.
