On December 2nd, the South Windsor High School community was notified about the arrival of Mrs. Susan Henneberry who temporarily filled the open grade 11 administrative position taking effect on December 3rd, 2025.
After a careful process, the South Windsor High School ultimately gave this leadership role to Mrs. Henneberry because of her unwavering commitment, attentive mindset and everlasting care for students, and their overall achievement.
This role is important for the success of the school and the 11th grade class, but the end decision grants relief, knowing Henneberry can undoubtedly accomplish this.
Mrs. Henneberry has been in the education field for over four decades, constantly serving as a leader and educator throughout various towns and schools. Schools in Farmington, Granby, East Windsor and West Hartford have all been awarded the opportunity of knowing and learning from Henneberry.
Not only has she served as a classroom teacher, but also a district level administrator, post retirement administrator, previous interim associate principal and more, as she has always had a love for contributing to the operations of communities.
The beginning steps of this role at South Windsor are some of the most crucial to Henneberry as she has immediately begun showing her presence throughout the hallways.
“My first goal is to introduce myself to as many juniors as possible by visiting classes, lunches and during passing time in the hallway,” Henneberry told The Prowl.
South Windsor High School aligns with four key attributes that Henneberry believes are pivotal in the lives of every student. These are; resilient, engaged, empowered, and socially conscious.
Henneberry is committed to fostering success within the high school community, and individual students. She explained that student success is multifaceted, and requires support from not only family and friends, but their educational community.
Henneberry knows the role she has taken on as Interim Assistant Principal goes far beyond what the title. She identifies as a listener, connector, form of guidance, and relationship builder.
“I will always be available to any student who reaches out; and at times, I may reach out to students myself when I see an opportunity to support them,” Henneberry said.
The qualities and values of Henneberry are clear, her determined mindset to support the 11th grade students is one that can be noticed immediately by her interactions.
A phrase commonly used throughout the education field, and one that Henneberry strives for is “slow is fast.” To her, this means “thoughtful, deliberate choices ultimately lead to stronger outcomes and fewer setbacks.”
The South Windsor High School community eagerly welcomed Mrs. Henneberry to the building on December 3rd. Her morales, goals, and characteristics are sure to provide the best opportunities, spark excitement for students during the duration of her term.
