The SWHS class of 2029 officers held a fundraiser at the local Shake Shack where many students got together to raise money for the class of 2029, on Tuesday, November 25th.
The fundraiser was fairly successful for the start of the year. Dozens of parents and students from the class of ‘29, and other classes, turned up in support. All they had to do to donate was order food like usual from the restaurant and mention the fundraiser when checking out. If they mentioned the class of 2029, a percentage of the money from that order would go back to the class. Many students from the class enjoyed spending time eating food with friends, and as freshman Suri Nguyen told The Prowl, “It was a good time”.
Although the first fundraiser of the year was successful, a lot of students in the class don’t know what happens to the money. Many students may share the same opinion.

“To be honest, I don’t really know where the money goes,” SWHS freshman Sofia Montes De Oca Roblez stated.
Some freshman students, like Dominik Kolacz, said, “it goes to the school or charity.”
For students who are not aware where the money raised from these fundraisers goes, “All of the funds collected from these class fundraisers will go towards future class events, like junior prom,” stated class president, Daniel Zhang.
Class fundraisers like the one at Shake Shack allow the class to host a nice prom, and in the past, SWHS classes have held their junior prom in venues like the Hartford Marriott Downtown. Whatever money isn’t used to pay for a class’s prom, is reinvested into the class, and will be used for other activities, like senior outings.
The class officers plan to have more fundraisers across the town, over the next few years to continue to raise money for the class of 29. It would greatly help the class of 29 if you attend and support any of these fundraisers, even if you aren’t a part of the class.
