Elise Suffish, Senior Captain of South Windsor High School’s girls varsity lacrosse team is a notable student athlete on and off the field, as well as an inspiration for various underclassmen.
Rocking #3 on the field, Suffish plays both midfield and attack, using her speed and skill to create scoring chances and support both ends of the field.
“Elise is the kindest person on and off the field you could ever come across, and she never has a bad attitude and always keeps her head up,” junior Fiona Downes stated.
Suffish was inspired to start her lacrosse career 9 years ago, due to her older sister’s love for the sport. At the time, Suffish yearned for a change of pace from her primary sport, soccer, and, in the process, fell in love with lacrosse.
Suffish expressed her fondness for the fast pace and intensity of the sport itself, along with her current team’s high morale, which allows the game to take on an element of fun.
Suffish’s ability to both excel in her sport, and enjoy doing so, is a rare quality to be found.
“The team environment is always fun and positive, we can always be focused on the game but still have time to laugh and enjoy ourselves,” Suffish told The Prowl.
During the current season, Suffish has been one of the leading scorers, with 10 goals thus far. She has helped shape the team into a force to be reckoned with through her passion and work ethic.
Suffish and the Lady Bobcats are set to face off against Newington this Thursday, May 8th, at South Windsor High School’s turf field.
