The South Windsor girls tennis team has had a great season this year with a record of 13-1 and are expected to do well in the upcoming CCC conference tournament which begins 11am this Saturday, May 25th at home.

They knocked out the leading team, East Hartford, in the conference and only have two matches left. Wednesday, May 15th was the first time in 3 years that South Windsor has won against East Hartford.

It feels really good to be on a team. It’s great to be around people who are on the same level of work ethic and goals for the season,” senior captain Ella Luangpraseuth told The Prowl. “Last year, I was captain, and we had a really good season, but this year, we really pulled through, and it was good to see that development.”

Luangpraseuth has had a great season and has been doing a great job leading the team, Luangpraseuth has been playing all four years of her high school career while also playing volleyball in the fall.

The coach of the tennis team, Mrs. Janet Belval, is very happy with how the season is going and thinks that they are going to have a good couple of seasons to come.

“At the East Hartford game, sophomore Lavanya Rathore played singles 1, sophomore Natalie [Chin] and Ella [Luangpraseuth] at doubles 1 both played amazing,” Coach Belval said. “We beat them 4-3. For doubles 3, sophomore Maddie Miheiro and freshman Esha Malli really came through, and without those two other matches, we wouldn’t have won.”

The team does not know who they will play in the first round of the CCC’s because they are waiting to see how other teams will be finishing up.
