The Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) trailer that MCU fans have been waiting for for years was finally released on Tuesday, September 18th. With rumors speculating about her since before Avengers Infinity War came out, people are going crazy. It’s presumed that Captain America will die in the upcoming Avengers film to follow Infinity War’s tragic ending because of Chris Evans’ contract ending- and most likely in their final battle after so many characters died in the previous conclusion and it’s all we were left with.

Through the trailer, we don’t learn much about what will happen, which leaves the film to be even more anticipated, not knowing what to expect. Especially with the expecting arrival of her in Avengers 4 coming up. We know that she’s been having flashes of memories that she doesn’t know if they are real or not, that Nick Fury is along the ride, and there’s some kind of war between alien races. However, fans suspect that part of it is in the past because Fury doesn’t have his eye patch on- at the end of Infinity War, he turned to dust. Which makes this all the more exciting to see where she went, and how Marvel will have her make her first appearance in the cinematic universe ever, but also her comeback as a hero who can save worlds. They are presenting her as as strong as Captain America and a woman, which is sure to make a huge impact in MCU’s future.

As heartbreaking as that is to lose one or more of the beloved main Avengers, it’s incredibly exciting to have a new woman on the team. In addition to that, of the two women who are part of the Avengers, neither have had their own solo movie yet, so this is thrilling. Not only for the team to have a Captain who’s a woman for the first time, but for her to gain a high speculating spotlight which she leads and can inspire women and girls everywhere. If there’s one thing Marvel was missing, it was that leading strong women that wasn’t just a background, side, less of a main hero character, like Black Widow and Scarlet Witch who, though apart of the Avengers for several years, received no leads or strong background.

Fans over twitter shared images from the comic of their favorite and most important line CM’s ever said through the hashtag #HERo to share their admiration for her and her inspiration:

“Have you ever seen a little girl run so fast she falls down? There’s an instant, a fraction of a second before the world catches hold of her again… a moment when she’s outrun every doubt and fear she’s ever had about herself and she flies. I need to find that again. Like taking a car out into the desert to see how fast it can go. I need to find the edge of me… And maybe, if I fly far enough, I’ll be able to turn around and look at the world… … And see where I belong.”

Overall, the most essential thing is finally getting a woman hero in the universe they love, one that children can see and know that anyone can be a superhero; and especially the most powerful one. It’s important for people who have been waiting for this character for years. While the DCEU has a leading strong women character, the MCU has shown to be more popular, which is why it’s necessary for the millions of young Marvel fans to see a leading woman in their favorite universe.
