At South Windsor High School, junior varsity boys’ soccer coach Ryan Kaufman, last year’s assistant coach of the year, has taken on the girls varsity coaching job. Coach Joseph Camire, long time head coach of the girls’ soccer team, announced that he was stepping down from the position after the fall season. After working with the boys team for years, the change is one many people are looking forward to. Kaufman has been a long time member of South Windsor High School’s security staff.

Kaufman is known for having strong connections with students and his players. Coaching wise, he is recognized for his constant desire for people to reach the best version of themselves on the field. Kaufman’s coaching method is to be strategic, and with this mindset, he will change the game plan. Choosing different players in different scenarios to make sure the team has the best possible advantage against the opponent, is something he strives to do.

Kaufman has his own team culture, driven by winning, and a goal oriented mentality.

“The goal is to hopefully set up a new team culture, have a positive attitude, be healthy, and feel confident for the first game,” Kaufman told The Prowl.

The pre-season is huge, and a game changer to Kaufman. He takes pride when his players take time to get better on their own time, as most coaches do.

When asked what motivates him as a coach, Kaufman stated, “Love and passion for the game, sharing it with the next generation, and being a positive role model.”

Kaufman’s drive for his team’s success is derived from his own competitive nature. Kaufman was a former player, and feels a love for the game even years later. His passion for the game of soccer will continue with his new position as the girls’ varsity coach
