Andrea Mainelli graduated from South Windsor High School in 1981.

Andrea Mainelli, a 1981 South Windsor High School Graduate, was recently inducted into the High School Hall of Fame on Saturday, March 2, 2024.

Throughout high school, she was class valedictorian, served on the student council and as class president in her sophomore and junior years. Mainelli was a member of the National Honor Society, and she was also selected to Laurel Girls’ State and received the Yale-Redden award for her impressive scholarship, athletics, and leadership.

Mainelli played basketball at SWHS for three continuous years and was titled second-team all-state in basketball her senior year.

In her athletic career, she played field hockey, basketball, softball, and tennis while also being a captain in field hockey and basketball. She earned All-CVC honors in both field hockey and basketball for three continuous years and was titled second-team all-state in basketball her senior year. She was a 2-time CVC champion in field hockey and a 3-time CVC champion in basketball. Both her basketball and field hockey teams reached the state semi- or quarterfinals for each year that she played.

Andrea Mainelli played field hockey at SWHS and at Harvard.

After high school, Mainello attended Harvard University as a Division I field hockey recruit and majored in social studies with the goal of being in international relations. While at Harvard she earned eight varsity letters in field hockey all four years, was team captain, and was selected to attend the U.S Olympic Developmental camps. She played basketball her freshman year, but later transferred to lacrosse her sophomore year.

Andreas’ biggest ambition after graduating high school was, “to make a positive contribution to society,” and after graduating from Harvard as an All-Ivy her senior year she successfully accomplished that goal.

After graduation, she became a banker at Morgan Stanley, and then a project developer of Energy Infrastructure in Central and Eastern Europe for Enron. She was part of a team that developed one of the first privately financed power plants in Poland. Later, she ran a division that delivered online and classroom training to professionals as CEO of Kaplan Professional and then was an executive at the College Board where she was in charge of global sales.

She currently works at a Global Education Strategy Consulting Firm and Investment Bank as a Senior Advisor for Tyton Partners.
