Former South Windsor High School lacrosse standout Hailey Deptula continues to dominate at the NCAA Division 1 level for Siena University.
During her time as a Bobcat, Deptula scored more than 100 goals in 3 seasons, and picked up All-Conference and All-State honors. The Bobcats had a record of 32 and 20 with Deptula, including a 13-4 season in 2022. Deptula was also a four year starter for the field hockey team, earning All-Conference and All-State honors as well.
In 2025, Deptula graduated from South Windsor High School early, and began attending Siena University as a practice player for the lacrosse team.
“That gave me so much insight and almost a preview into what Division 1 lacrosse was like,” Deptula told The Prowl, “I am very grateful for that experience, but even more grateful for my family and friends who I could lean on when the grind got tough.”
Deptula also added that she loved being surrounded by the sport, but also that rest and balance helped a lot with the transition from high school to college.
In her freshman season at Siena, Deptula was the third highest goal scorer on the team collecting 24 goals, including a 5 goal performance against Iona. On top of that, she had 6 assists for a total of 30 points over 17 games. She was named to the All-MAAC Rookie Team.
The Saints posted a 12-7 record and a trip to the MAAC Championship Game, where they became the lowest ever seed to make it to the final game as a five seed. They ultimately fell to the number one seed Fairfield University Stags, with the final score being 13-4.
Still, Deptula says she was proud of the season. “Our team was fighting for our spot in the MAAC tournament for almost the entire month of April,” Deptula said. “Without the adversity at the beginning of the season (making the MAAC Championship) would not have been possible and I am so proud of the team for banning together.”
When not on the field working on her own game, Deptula is an avid helper of younger athletes. She works with South Windsor’s youth lacrosse program, assisting coaches, hosting clinics for teams, and offering private and semiprivate lessons. She has a platinum coaching certification from USA Lacrosse, and founded Stick With The Sport, her business of lacrosse training for younger players encouraging good habits for young athletes. She is also a head coach for Nor’easter North Club lacrosse, and a Morgan’s Message ambassador.
“You will face bumps in the road, but remembering your love and fun for the sport will allow you to see over those bumps,” Deptula said. “You can work hard and have fun at the same time.”
Whether she is playing or coaching lacrosse, there is no denying the dedication and love Deptula has for the sport, although she emphasizes the importance of balance in life.
Hailey Deptula will continue to compete for Siena during her sophomore season in 2027.
