South Windsor’s girls lacrosse team held their Senior Night on Thursday, May 8th, with a thrilling home game against Westfield, Massachusetts. The match ended in a close 13-14 loss, but the team’s resilience and teamwork were clear highlights of the evening.
Senior Mady Syme marked a special milestone by scoring her 100th career goal.
Freshman Molly Willard expressed her admiration for senior standout Mady, saying, “Seeing Mady score 100 goals made me so happy, especially since I see her as a role model,” Willard added. “This game definitely showed our resilience and how we work as a team.”

The game intensified as it went into overtime, with both teams fighting fiercely for the win. During this tense period, an ambulance arrived on the field to assist a Westfield player who was hit in the head, causing a pause in play that left both teams sitting on the turf.
Syme received a yellow card and was required to sit out for two minutes.
This combination of events disrupted South Windsor’s momentum and added to the challenge of regaining control in a tightly contested match.
Despite the final score, the event was a celebration of the seniors’ dedication and contribution to the team throughout the season.
