Head Coach, Micheal Moore, has been playing lacrosse for 22 years, starting at the high school level at Ellington before continuing at the Division III level at Eastern Connecticut State University.
“Coach Moore is a great coach and likes to run things how they are meant to be ran,” Mason Deciantis explained. “If he feels like there’s a rough patch in our offense or defense, he fixes it to the best of his ability. If he feels we aren’t in enough condition, he runs us. If he feels like our shooting is off, we will shoot; he likes to better us in every way he can.”
Moore has been coaching for 14 years and previously served as an assistant coach at Ellington and Bacon Academy, where his team advanced to the 2019 Class S State Finals.
Currently, Moore is participating in the club lacrosse circuit with the Stallions Lacrosse Club.

“Coach Moore is one of the best coaches I’ve ever had,” senior captain Will Castelhano said. “He has been with me every step of the way through my ups and downs. He has helped me personally improve my game by setting me up to play club lacrosse because he knows how much it will benefit me as a player as well as the team. I am where I am today because of him.”
Moore’s approach to coaching goes beyond strategizing plays; it’s rooted in a personal philosophy that values leadership, integrity, and a strong sense of community.
“One of my favorite quotes is, ‘You can’t be great without the greatest of others.'” Coach Moore explained. “To me, this means leading by example, putting in the work to be successful, and never making excuses. I always share my philosophy of being part of a family with those I interact with. It’s about how you carry yourself and how you treat others, both on and off the field.”
Beyond the season, Moore provides opportunities for players to improve through weight training and winter skills clinics with the club, which are open to anyone looking to get better.
“Coach Moore is a coach on the field and a friend off the field,” senior captain Kyle Katzbek told The Prowl. “He’s easy to talk to and very understanding, and he’s made it very clear how he’s trying to improve the program for the future of SWHS.”
Here at South Windsor, Moore has been the head coach for 5 years and took the Bobcats to the state tournament in the 2024 season for the first time since 2017.
“He’s been my coach for four years, and we have had our ups and downs, but, at the end of the day, he’s the best I’ve gotten, and over the past 2 years, he has made them very fun and very memorable,” senior Jalen Canales stated.
After a successful win against Tolland, where Moore and the Bobcats won 17-3, the Bobcats’ record is now 4-2. The Bobcats hope to make a second straight apperance to the playoffs and their next game is against Berlin at South Windsor High School’s MPF.
