Red Robin restaurant, located in the Buckland Hills Mall Plaza in Manchester.

Red Robin was founded in 1969 in Seattle, Washington with its headquarters located in Greenwood Village, Colorado. In the 1940s, Red Robin was created in the college party town of Seattle. The restaurant originally started as Sam’s Tavern and eventually was renamed and became the place we know and love today as Red Robin.

Red Robin is a family restaurant, so people come in with their children to eat and laugh. Even though there are over 500 Red Robins all over the world, every restaurant is set up the exact same way. This gives customers a sense of comfort as the burger chairs and the big red robin are the familiar sights in the front that always bring smiles to people´s faces.

The staff is diverse, coming together with very different lives and stories. The ages vary from 17-50. Some are still in high school and college managing 40 hours at work, and, on top of that, school. It can become overwhelming very quickly. Others are taking care of their children while working another job.

¨It feels like a family, you can be mad and smile the next second. Everyone is very well connected,¨ said SWHS senior and Red Robin employee Manaal Sheriff. She is the youngest person there and feels the same way as the oldest.

21-year-old, employee, Cyan Gonzalez reveals how it is juggling multiple responsibilities. ¨Red Robin’s flexible hours and room for growth within the company have allowed me to explore all available positions while being a full time student.¨

Cy holds many jobs as an employee. She is a waitress, does takeout, and hosts all while going to college and working a second  job. Red Robin allows her to do it all and supports her through it.

Working any job can be exhausting, but working with people you love makes it easier. The workers at Red Robin are similar to family, when someone is upset, they all gather together to help in any way possible. Customers love to eat here with their families, the food is great, and the service is impeccable. Seeing the happy dynamic definitely makes them feel comfortable as well. The customer’s favorite thing to eat at Red Robin is the fries. It’s what they’re known for: people go there for the bottomless fries.

Management runs a tight ship, but also creates special bonds with their employees. At the beginning of every Saturday night shift, they pull everyone together in a circle and talk with co-workers about what’s being done well and what needs work. They do this on Saturday because it’s usually the restaurant’s busiest day. By the end, everyone is usually laughing and from there we get ready for a busy night.
