The Greatness of Serena Williams
May 5, 2017
Serena Williams is considered as the greatest player in not only women’s tennis history but tennis history regardless of gender. She has done nothing but dominate women’s tennis and the gap between her and the other top female players is about the size of the Pacific Ocean. She has continued to make headlines for her stellar performances for years but a few days ago, she made headlines for something other than tennis.
A few days ago, Serena posted a picture on her SnapChat story in which she was standing sideways holding her stomach that appeared to be protruding. The caption of the picture was “20 weeks”. She soon took the picture down but this led to speculation that Serena is pregnant. This is all very convincing evidence that Serena is in fact pregnant. Of course everyone would be happy for Serena if she and her fiance had a child, but aside from that, this would prove her greatness even more.
If she is 20 weeks (5 months) pregnant as her caption would suggest, then this would mean that she played in the Australian Open in January about four months ago while she was one month pregnant. Even though it’s early, being one month pregnant can come with a lot of physical symptoms such as morning sickness and fatigue. The fact that she was able to compete in this tournament while being pregnant speaks highly of her mental and physical toughness. However, It doesn’t end there. She not only competed in the Australian Open – she won whole tournament taking out three top 15 seeds, including her sister Venus, in order to do so. How many athletes do you know that have the mental strength and body capability to do this? Oh yeah and I forget to mention that she also made it to the finals of the doubles tournament with her sister. While being one month pregnant, she played over twice the amount of games than the majority of players both the singles and doubles tournament. This is one of the many examples that prove Serena is not only one of the greatest tennis players of all time, but is one of the greatest athletes of all time.
