New South Windsor Preschool Brings Another Opportunity to Evergreen Walk
A local educator plans to bring more to South Windsor with her newly developed preschool, set to open in Evergreen Walk this spring.
The Goddard School is a chain preschool organization with locations spread throughout Connecticut. Owner, Lauren Smallwood, decided to begin work on building a location in South Windsor after reaping positive benefits from sending her own kids there. ¨I am a mom and I have 3 little kids. The Goddard school in Glastonbury worked perfectly for them,” Smallwood explained.
Smallwood added that she is optimistic this new school at Evergreen Walk will bring benefits to both children and their parents.
¨The school will give parents a safe and healthy environment for their kids to grow. It will allow for kids to develop a strong foundation for learning,¨ Smallwood told The Prowl in a phone interview.
And, with Evergreen Walk now being restored again through opening spots in the Promenade shops, including Wholefoods, Shake Shack, Lovesac and Dudes donuts, there are definitely opportunities for parents to get errands done or grab a treat with their child after class.
In addition, this new school will bring new job opportunities to the community. One month or so before the planned opening, the school still has a variety of jobs posted on Indeed including Lead Teacher and Head Teacher.
One rising teacher at the Goddard school, Mrs. Andrea, is a critical figure in the creation of the South Windsor Goddard location. Andrea has been in education for the past 10 years. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Human Development at Merrimack College and also has a minor in Elementary Education. Andrea is going to be the center director of the new South Windsor location.
In the classroom, the Goddard School has an initiative to ¨encourage discovery and spark imagination in everyday learning opportunities. We embrace science, technology, engineering, art and math (STEAM) concepts through educational experiences while fine-tuning social-emotional skill development,¨ according to their home webpage.
The 13,000 square foot facility is equipped with 12 classrooms and a gym. Available for infants, toddlers age 2-3, as well as preschool and kindergarten children attending. The Goddard School costs roughly $1,400-$1,600 a month. All of this information and more can be found on the school’s website SouthWindsorGoddardSchool
