Fall season is just around the corner! Pumpkins, cooler weather, Halloween, and of course Gilmore Girls! The iconic early-2000s comedy-drama is a must-watch for this upcoming 2022 fall season. The show follows the eccentric mother-daughter duo, as they live their seemingly-perfect life in a small Connecticut town known as Stars Hollow. So get your coffee, light your pumpkin candle, snuggle up by the fire, turn on Netflix and begin the 7 seasons of Gilmore Girls.

Lorelai and Rory Gilmore first appeared on screen on October 5th, 2000 on the CW channel. The show wasn’t a smash hit at first, reaching only 5 million views per week. Creator of the production, Amy Sherman Palladino did not expect it to have a lasting mark on the film and TV industry.

It is especially popular among Generation Z. Sophomore, Emma Cherubini, expressed her love and connection to the show. “I just love the aesthetic of the show. I watch it with my mom, and we bond over our love for it.” 

The pilot episode begins playing the song “There She Goes” by the La’s. Lorelai Gilmore is the first of the two Gilmore Girls to be introduced, walking through the small community of Stars Hallow, on the way to get a cup of coffee from Luke’s. Behind the counter is Luke Danes, proud owner of Luke’s Diner, home to obnoxiously large coffee cups and the all-American menu. Lastly introduced is the other half of the Gilmore pair, Lorelai’s daughter, also named Lorelai, but viewers know her as Rory.

“I never was the type of person to binge watch shows, but I kept seeing the Gilmore Girls on my Netflix. So I decided to try and watch a few episodes. And here I am, months later watching it every night before I got to bed,” explained junior Angelina Bellizzi.

This is the case of many, and the comedy-drama has racked nearly 5 million viewers on Netflix. A variety of watchers, including first-timers or people who are returning to the nostalgic town of Stars Hallows for the fall season. 

Thankfully, the craziness of the Gilmore life doesn’t stop after 7 seasons. A 4-episode miniseries titled “Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life” came out on Netflix on November 25th, 2016. The show continued to follow each character, 10 years later, all grown up.
