The Most Valuable Lessons I learned in 2021

  • No one loves you more than your mom does
  • Friends come into your life to bring fun and happiness, as well as teach you things. Love those around you and enjoy their presence, but be wary of initiating strong dependencies, as almost no one will be there forever
  • You are not everyone’s taste, be yourself, and those meant for you will be attracted towards you
  • Holding onto anger and grudges is like holding onto hot coal with the intention of throwing it at someone, but instead you only burn yourself
  • Understand that life is a cycle of happiness and sadness in turn, don’t get used to one or the other, but enjoy the happiness as it comes and allow yourself to fully feel the sadness
  • Distractions are simply band-aids for a larger wound. Treating the symptom is not the anecdote for the disease, aim to distinguish the problem at its root
  • There is peace in solitude.

Loneliness is not the challenger, you came into this earth alone and you will leave alone. Learn to have fun with yourself and admire yourself- inside and out. This life will be far less painful if you stop basing your feelings about yourself on the way the people around you treat you.

  • Don’t rush your anguish, thoroughly immerse yourself and inspect it, as that is one of the only ways to truly find yourself.
  • Focus less on trying to change and control those around you, as the only person you truly have that power over is yourself.
  • You don’t have to be a leader or a follower all the time, simply being yourself is enough
  • Accept yourself, flaws and all, as you are all you were born with and all you will pass with. Self love is difficult to achieve and doesn’t have to be the standard, aim for self neutrality, and work your way up from there.
  • Be the person you wish you had in your life. And you will attract those similar to that standard.
  • Find happiness within yourself, then only exert it and share it with others. If you’re ever unhappy, don’t be wary of showing it and letting it run its course.
  • And finally, Time heals all. Interpret that as you will.
