The phases in which the COVID vaccine will be distributed- and when life will return to normalcy
December 15, 2020
A panel has broken the population down into 4 phases- to determine who gets the coronavirus vaccine when.
The first phase includes all frontline doctors, nurses, first responders, and nursing home workers. People with 2+ risk factors will also get the covid vaccine during this first phase.
During the second phase, teachers, school employees, childcare workers, and people working in food supply would then be vaccinated.
During the third phase, children and adults 30+ in age would be eligible for the vaccine
The fourth phase would include anybody else in the US not already vaccinated.
Now about the vaccine’s effectiveness, and what it’s estimated to do, “Last week, BioNTech and co-developers Pfizer said preliminary analysis showed their vaccine could prevent more than 90% of people from getting Covid-19.” Taking herd immunity into account, this could wipe out the virus almost completely.
For anyone wondering when life will go back to normal, “BioNTech’s Ugur Sahin: “I’m confident that…we could have a normal winter next year”
The vaccine sheds a ray of hope for all Americans- for a life past the pandemic.
