The Wolverine Watchmen- And Their Radical Kidnapping Plan

13 men were charged for trying to kidnap Gretcthen Whitmer, the governor of Michigan, as well as trying to overthrow the government the week of October 9th.

A lot of people were upset with Whitmer because of her ways of going about the coronavirus. The people in her state viewed her as over-emotional and unfit to be governor. Even the president got involved, and tweeted about Whitmer being unfit for her job as the governor of Michigan.

All of this anger and hatred towards her was spearheaded by a group known as the Wolverine Watchmen, led by a man named Brian Higgins. This group had very negative feelings about Michigan’s governor/government, which led to their radical plan. What was the exact plan, you may ask? Well, that part is unclear

A video played in court showed the Wolverine Watchmen ‘training’, by jumping out of a vehicle, shooting large rifles. A text message sent in a Wolverine Watchmen group chat reads, “Have one person go to her house, knock on the door and when she answers it just cap her”. Other text messages sent in said group chat included very explicit descriptions of things the men wanted to do to Governor Whitmer and the other miscellaneous members of the Government of Michigan. Now while the exact plan to kidnap Mayor Whitmer is obscure, here’s what can be pieced together; The Wolverine Watchmen planned to capture Whitmer at rifle-point, and then take her to a ‘secure location’. What the men planned to do to Whitmer after that point is unknown, although judging by the evidence against them, one could interpret that they most likely were plotting to shoot/ torture her(hence the quote, “just cap her”)

Luckily, as of now, Whitmer is safe, and the suspects are in custody.
