On Tuesday Night, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt) officially won the New Hampshire Primary in a close race. This victory comes after the embarrassing Iowa Caucuses, where voters and candidates were left days wondering about the results. The result is big for Senator Sanders, as the race inches closer and closer to Super Tuesday, where 15 states will go to the polls and caucesses. 

After all the votes were accounted for, Bernie Sanders led the pack with 25.7% of the vote, which in total was 76,324 votes. Mayor Pete Buttigieg followed close in behind with 24.4%, and also by Sen. Amy Kloubaucher, with 19.8%. 

“This victory here is the beginning of the end of Donald Trump,” Sanders said.

After Iowa and New Hampshire, Bernie Sanders has looked like the primary Democratic front-runner heading into the General Election. Mayor Pete Buttigieg has emerged as the primary contender against Sanders, who has shown he is more than capable of winning the Democratic nomination. 

What has come as an early surprise to many is the downfall of former Vice President, Joe Biden, who has failed to win any delegates in the first two states. Back in the summer, Biden was at the top of almost every national poll heading into the election. 

“It ain’t over, man. We’re just getting started,” Biden said from South Carolina.

Sen. Amy Kloubaucher also made big headlines with her strong performance in New Hampshire, capturing nearly 20% of the vote. A strong debate performance on Friday night coupled with the struggles of Biden’s campaign appeared to lift Klobuchar to a strong result. She raised more than $2 million in the 48 hours after the debate and went up on the airwaves in Nevada on Tuesday. 

“My heart is full tonight,” Klobuchar said to a group of enthusiastic supporters holding “Amy for America” signs in Concord, N.H. “While there are still ballots left to count, we have beaten the odds every step of the way.”

After a close fought battle, the race only intensifies as the candidates race to Nevada and South Carolina in the upcoming weeks. Then, it’s the race towards Super Tuesday, which will ultimately determine the true front-runners towards the General Election against Donald Trump in November.
