May 16, 2019
On May 15th, those involved with the hit series, Rick & Morty, confirmed the long-awaited arrival of season four which will air in November. After hearing the news, Kanye West immediately took to twitter and expressed his excitement for the cartoon saying, “This is the greatest news. This is my favourite show. I’ve seen every episode at least five times each.” Creators of the show Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland were aware of the rapper’s love for the show before, but this time around they decided to act on it; They offered West an entire episode dedicated to himself and invited him to come write it with them.
Over the years, the psychedelic mind-boggling comedy has attracted the attention of eccentric rapper, Kanye West. He has always talked about how much he loves the show on his social media and even in interviews. West previously tweeted last year in celebration of the show’s renewal. Soon after that, one of the episodes featured the goofy main characters singing a happy birthday song for Kanye.
Although West is known to be a very controversial entertainer, the creators see him in a completely positive light. In an interview with The Blast, Roiland stated, “He’s a kindred spirit, genius, visionary.” The creative pair then continued to talk about how Kanye was “always welcome” to make an appearance in the show. Harmon even added, “I’m giving him an episode, I’m making it official. We have 70! He can have one. Kanye, you can have an episode,” to solidify the deal.
