Everyone’s raving about Billie Eilish’s debut studio album “When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?”
April 16, 2019
17 year old singer/songwriter, Billie Eilish, released her first studio album on Friday, March 29th. Her album, “When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?” was anticipated by many fans. After her debut single in 2016, “Ocean Eyes,” the public was eager to listen to a full album. Eilish’s style is very unique, and her 13 new songs have a similar style to her previous singles.
The mysterious vibe of Billie’s music is something that draws in fans. Junior, Morgan Saylor, raved that the album is “AMAZING and very unique, kinda creepy but definitely a vibe I like.” While dark and mysterious, many commented that they love the album. Senior, Abby Oliveira, said that she’s “in love.” Some songs are more sad while others are very high energy. The first full song on the album, “bad guy,” is many fans’ favorite song. This song has a consistent beat in the background that occasionally pauses for effect. This style led senior, Zola Mitchell, to say that Eilish’s songs are “bops, but sometimes I have no ideas what her lyrics mean.” The mesmerizing style is adored by many fans, however some are critical of it.
While many rave about her album, others find it to be “overrated” as freshmen, Sophia Peruccio remarked. She argues that Eilish “tries to be quiet and mysterious and I don’t think she’s actually like that.” Despite Peruccio’s critique, many clearly disagree with her, as Eilish was number one on Billboard’s “Top 100 Artists Chart” for the week of April 13th, 2019. Not only is she a top artist, but Eilish broke Apple Music’s record for number of users who “pre-added” her album before it’s release.
Quickly finding herself in the spotlight, Eilish has a long list of tour dates lined up. Many of her concert dates are already sold out, and others have tickets priced for hundreds of dollars. Currently at Coachella, Eilish won’t be in New England until mid-June.
