Coach Duclos Back in Charge for Girls' Lacrosse

As the SWHS girls varsity lacrosse team prepares for their first few games, they also need to adjust to their new head coach, Ed Duclos. As the current technology coach and yearbook teacher, Duclos is very involved in the SWHS community. This program is very special to Duclos because he started it and coached it until 2013. Back in charge, Duclos has prepared his team and faced a scrimmage against Tolland last Monday. Though they didn’t keep score, goalie and SWHS senior, Sarah Gallagher, believes that they “definitely won.”

Looking forward to the rest of the season, Gallagher believes that the scrimmage was a great opportunity to see how the team plays with each other “so we can grow from it.” With 6 seniors, quite a few returners, many juniors, but an overall young team, many believe the team has lots of room to grow. Gallagher explained that she “thinks we’re going to be really strong this season because we’re all friends, so we work really well together.”

With the first home game on Thursday against Berlin, the team is quickly working to find their rhythm. Since they need to start preparing to be competitive, Gallagher was excited to note that Duke “knows what he’s doing, he’s stern but not mean.”
