Everyone at South Windsor High School knows that Winter Break started on December 22nd and lasted until January 1st of the New Year. But while we were away on break for those eleven days, there was still a lot going on in Hollywood and other places around the world. In the Entertainment world there were many different things that celebrities did that caught the attention of the public during that week. If you were too busy spending time with family or on vacation and didn’t hear about anything that happened during our time off, then this is for you. Here are the most recognized events that happened during the eleven days of 2018.

Josh Dun and Debby Ryan Engagement

Not only was Friday December 22nd, 2018 the first day of our holiday break, but this was the day that musician, Josh Dun, proposed to actress Debby Ryan. The couple has been together since 2013 in an on and off again relationship. They were together for about two years until they went through their first breakup as a couple in 2015. The couple (or ex-couple) had been spotted together between 2015 and 2018, but they didn’t come out as a couple again until June of 2018.

After about five years of their on and off relationship, the Twenty One Pilots drummer and his girlfriend (at the time) were in New Zealand as they were on tour with Dun’s band for their latest album Trench. Dun’s romantic proposal included him taking her to an incredible tree house in New Zealand, wearing an all black outfit and Ryan wearing a long floral dress. There’s not much more to say about how Dun proposed to her, except that it seems like a proposal that you’d see in a movie. So obviously Ryan said yes and now the couple is engaged.

Both publicised their engagement on instagram on the same day as the proposal by posting a collection of pictures after at the scene. Dun captioned the pictures by saying, “I found a treehouse in the woods in New Zealand and proposed to my girl. She my dude for life. I love you Debby.” While Ryan posted the engagement pictures with the caption, “I said yes! Well technically I said ‘NO WAY’ twice but I meant yes.”

Many of us cannot wait to see what comes next for the couple in 2019, including a possible wedding and some more engagement pictures.

Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth Marriage

After the Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth met on the set of their movie ‘The Last Song’ in 2009, the two hit it off right away. Then in 2012 the two got engaged and they split a few times during their engagement. But finally, Cyrus and Hemsworth tied the knot on December 23rd, 2018 at Cyrus’ home in Franklin, Tennessee. The ceremony was very private and secretive, and it surprised many fans when the couple announced that they were now husband and wife.

Miley’s sister, Brandi Cyrus, explained in her podcast that Miley has always wanted to have an intimate wedding, and that is exactly what happened. Liam and Miley only invited their closest friends and family, as they didn’t want an extravagant wedding like other celebrities. They wanted the day to be special. Brandi even mentioned that the happy couple asked their guests to not take any pictures at the wedding.

Not all of their guests got the memo that they weren’t supposed to take pictures at the wedding. Conrad Carr posted many pictures on to his Instagram story before he was informed of the couple’s wishes. When he found out that Cyrus and Hemsworth told everyone to not take pictures, he felt terrible. Even though wedding pictures were leaked onto social media, the couple still had the wedding of their dreams and are now happily married.

Many are very happy for the couple, including Junior, Disha Verma. She thinks that “it’s great because I used to watch her on tv when I was a kid.”

Post Malone’s New Single “Wow”

On December 24th, 2018 Post Malone surprised his fans with the release of his new single called ‘Wow’. Prior to the song being release, the rapper announced that he would release something new by the end of 2018. Along with the song, an animated music video that was holiday inspired, was posted on to Youtube.

In the song, Malone raps about his success and how he has made it to the top. Throughout the whole song he is bragging about his life as a well-known musician. Even though the song is about how he has become famous, he mentions different successful and well-known people as well; like the band Fall Out Boy and former NBA player Dikembe Mutombo. He mentions celebrities like these to show how similar he is to them, and how he has grown as a musician and a person.

Above all, people are reacting differently to this song. Some people really like it, like SWHS Junior, Dante Greer, who says, “Oh my God, I love that song.” But there are other people, like Elizabeth Poulin who states that Malone, “ has had better songs.” However, Poulin has not given up all hope on the song, as she mentions that, “I think I just need to listen to it a little more.”

Josh Peck and Paige O’Brien’s Baby Was Born

On December 31st, 2018 the former Drake and Josh actor, Josh Peck and his wife Paige O’Brien had their first child. Peck revealed the name of their baby boy by posting a picture onto Instagram of him with the caption being ‘Max Milo Peck’. O’Brien also posted a picture of Max swaddled in a blanket, and Peck commented on her picture, “Love you both forever.” The two lovebirds seem very much in love with the new addition to their small family.

Since O’Brien gave birth to Max, Peck has been very active on his social media and updating all of his fans with pictures and videos of his child. On January 5th of 2019, Peck, who is also a Youtuber, introduced Max to David Dobrik in a Youtube video. Many people enjoyed the video, including Junior, Raquel Paz Avala who states that, “David Dobrik’s reaction to Josh Peck’s kid was adorable, you should check it out on his channel.”
