Rap music is everywhere you look. Many are trying to make a name for themselves within the industry. One of those big names include Travis Scott, who burst on the scene with his debut album in 2015 and hasn’t looked back since. With his third album, Astroworld, and his Wish You Were Here concert tour.

Before his first album, Rodeo, had been released, Scott hadn’t done much else. He came out of nowhere only putting out a few songs before the album, which had a picture of a Travis Scott action figure standing on top of a toy monster truck on the front. Rodeo ended up having two singles from the album. The first, 3500, climbed to #82 of the Billboard 100; and, Antidote, peaking at #16. In total, the album had 14 songs having several features on them, only 5 include Scott independently. Some features included musical powerhouses like Quavo, Young Thug, Justin Bieber, Swae Lee, Future, and many others.

After entering the rap game with Rodeo, Scott released his second studio album on September 2nd, 2016: nearly a year after Rodeo was released. Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight, features a picture of a winged Scott sitting in an eerie shadow smoking what looks to be a cigarette. At the moment, this was the hottest and most successful album that was around. His top two singles, Pick up the Phone and Goosebumps, peaked at #43 and #32 respectively on the charts. The album had plenty of feature firepower, including Kendrick Lamar, Quavo, and 21 Savage.

In 2017, he released a joint album with Quavo called Huncho Jack, Jack Huncho. This album wasn’t as successful as the other two albums Scott had. And again, in 2018, Scott released his third solo album Astroworld, which features a golden Scott head with his mouth open posing as the entryway to the amusement park the album is named after.  The highest ranked song on the Billboard charts from this album is Sicko Mode, which featured Swae Lee and Drake and peaked at #2. The album as a whole got plenty of positive reviews all over the internet, with some believing it is the best album of 2018. It is clear that Travis Scott has definitely made his mark in the hip-hop industry.

As for the concert and tour, it kicked off on November 8th, in Baltimore. Highlights of the tour include November 17th in his hometown of Houston, TX, and November 30th in Hartford, CT. He also hits NYC on back-to-back nights as well as Los Angeles. One anonymous SWHS senior said “I would really like to go to that concert but I think the price of the tickets are too much for me.” Currently, the prices range from $25.95 to $99.95. Regardless of if you go or not, it is important to recognize how quickly Scott’s fan base has grown over the course of a few years.
