On October 11th South Windsor’s local Foster Family Farm hosted their annual night maze event with the theme of pajamas in the corn maze.
Foster Family Farm hosted their night mazes years ago, but this is the first year they have brought the event back in recent years. Night mazes are hosted every Saturday at the farm, starting at 6:30 and going until 9:00 pm.
Tickets are sold in advance through the Foster Family Farm website. Purchase of a ticket gains access to all three mazes at the farm, as well as courtyard access where food truck vendors are available until approximately 7:00 pm.
Every Saturday night, from 6:30 through 9:30, weather permitting, the corn maze at Foster Family Farm is dimly lit, giving guests an enjoyable night trying to solve an already challenging corn maze.
The guests began to arrive around 6:30, wearing all types of pajamas : flannels, onesies and any comfortable wardrobe. Attendees attempted to navigate through the ox and wagon shaped, western themed corn maze, with no sunlight to aid them.
As the sun set, and the night grew darker, the fun continued up until the farm’s closing time, 9:30.The pajama night added to the fun experience given by Foster Family Farm’s and enhanced the beloved night maze experience.
Dylan Sharp is Foster Family Farms Operation Manager, running the night maze which is a South Windsor community favorite.
“Our night maze is a fan favorite because it’s more than just a maze, it’s a fun fall experience!” Sharp says.
Sharp notices the feeling of accomplishment that guests feel after completing the maze in the dark. Different themes are featured each Saturday night, and past themes from this year include neon night, cowboy/cowgirl night, USA night, and most recently, PJ night.
“I believe that our theme nights have been a big hit because it’s the first time we’ve had them in about five years, and people have been asking for them to come back.” Sharp says
Sharp wanted to make the night maze more exciting by adding a theme every week, as well as putting out extra lawn games for more fun.
Guests are encouraged to dress up with the theme for the night, whether it be dressing up as a cowboy, wearing pajamas and other comfortable clothing, or just wearing a sweatshirt of their alma mater.
The last night for the night maze experience will be on Saturday, November 1, and the last day of Foster Family Farm for the season will be Sunday November 2nd.
