Kincso Kohutics led the South Windsor High School’s freshman volleyball team to victory at their away game against E.O Smith on Friday, September 26th.
Freshman number 24, Kohutics was the captain for the second set of the game. She is extremely versatile and well-rounded, showing exceptional skills in both defense and offense on the court.
Because she does gymnastics, Kohutics has been introduced and advanced quickly into the game of volleyball, “It’s definitely helped me with dynamics, jumping, etc.” She commented. “It’s also prepared me mentally being okay with the fact that sometimes I’ll mess up.”
The Prowl asked coach Keith Raczkowski how Kohutics is valuable to the team. “It starts with her attitude, her athleticism, and being a quick learner.” He told The Prowl. “She can play all positions, and she can pass, set, and hit well.”
Being a reliable player on the court, Kohutics is able to support her teammates and they are able to depend on her. Kohutic’s optimistic attitude and inspirational personality make her a great teammate and friend.
“In the home game against Manchester, she made 16 straight serves. For her first season playing volleyball, she’s picked up the game very quickly.” Raczkowski commented.
Kohutics has proved herself in serving again and again. In the away game, Kohutics got 1 ace in the second set and served 5 times overall.
Although the freshman team lost the first set 14-25, during the second set they won 25-14, and in the third set, the Bobcats took yet another win for the season with 15-7.
Kohutics never gives up when the team is down points and is always trying to lift her teammates up with positive encouragement. Kohutics has a next play mentality that lightens the atmosphere with her teammates.
When asking her teammates who played in the second set against E.O Smith, Freshman Gargi Ahirrao said, “Kincso knows how to adjust really well on the court and that makes her significant on the team.”
