The senior class of 2026 at South Windsor High School has brought fresh creativity to this year’s capstone projects, independent works that showcase each student’s passions and highlight their academic journey
Everyone has a broad idea of what they want their own project to look like, to tell a story of who they are not only as a student but as a person. Two students demonstrating their drive of inspiration are senior twin brothers Aneek and Aneesh Roy, planning to talk about their USC cinematic arts program.
“I had to learn a lot of the technical stuff, and then I made three projects in three weeks, and I had different prompts for each project,” Aneesh told The Prowl.
Aneesh and Aneek made movies for their capstone project.
“I was assigned to write an entire film within 6 weeks,” Aneek said. “I wrote 20 pages a week for homework, and I had to read movies and screen plays for homework as well.”
This showcases how these two students at South Windsor High School are doing their capstone for film production. Aneek described the program as “very beneficial for their passion in the cinematic arts”.
Students will have three opportunities to complete their capstone requirement this year: October, December and January.
Students struggling to pick a topic for their project, follow these steps to find your way with ease! Reflect on your interests and passions, such as, what topics do you enjoy learning about the most and consider if there’s any issues going on in your field that you could speak on and offer a solution too.
Research the current trends and developments, assess the time and resources you as a student have at your disposal, explore recent research papers, industry reports and news articles to identify what steps you can take next to fulfill and solve said problem or to express how your passions can benefit others.
Define your project and goals by asking yourself, what do you want to accomplish with your projects? What contributions must you make to innovate and expand your thought process?
Seeing what students can achieve through pursuing these passion projects reminds us that education isn’t just about the grades, it’s about showing who these kids are beyond being a student at South Windsor High School, following their way through the final year and preparing them for the world they’re about to enter.
Stressing about capstone? A few things you can do to relax and prepare is to break the project into several smaller pieces, focus on the progression and not so much the perfection of it and remember you are not alone in this.
Show us what you can do to change the world, to carve your paths into the world with your talents and aspirations, good luck seniors.
