Ioana Luangpraseuth, South Windsor girls volleyball senior captain, has been making an impact on and off the court, inspiring others around her.
Wearing number 24, senior outside hitter Luangpraseuth strives to create a friendly environment for those around her while maintaining a competitive mindset.
One of the many ways Luangpraseuth has created a positive team environment is by sprucing up the locker room. She added disco balls, a mirror, and a karaoke machine in order to help connect the team and have them grow as individuals.
“I think the decoration in the locker room cultivates our team environment and it makes the space more welcoming,” Junior Keria Botticello said.
Luangpraseuth has also influenced a sense of community through the team by hosting the first pasta party of the season. Food and laughter was shared all around as the team came together before the first home opener.
“My goal for the pasta party was for everyone to sit together and eat, and be united by food,” Luangpraseuth said.
Luangpraseuth also makes an effort to maintain spirit and competitiveness while on the court. With her spirit she comforts her teammates around her while also pushing them to do better.
“It’s been very fun, Ioana is great to work with and it feels very productive,” senior captain London Bascomb states. “We’re almost always on the same page.”
Luanpraseuth is a huge inspiration for underclassmen to push them to want to continue to play volleyball and be a huge success.
“My older cousin Ally Dzen inspired me to play volleyball because she was one of my biggest influencers when I was in elementary school,” Laungpraseuth said. “I think we should all strive to be a role model for everyone, but also have them be comfortable talking to us about personal problems on and off the court.”
As the girls move farther into the season, Luangpraseuth’s support will motivate the team to success, leading to great things for the girls.
