It was a standout performance from freshman Adam Elsendyouney as he played a role in his South Windsor JV soccer team’s victory against Manchester, contributing not only with two goals but also with intelligent movement, sharp decision making, and relentless energy on the field.
“It felt good, refreshing,” Elsendyouney said. “I just played the way I usually do, and the assists and goals kept coming. When we face them again, maybe they’ll come back stronger, but today, we were clearly the much better team.”
Elsendyouney picked up the ball in midfield; he cut sharply inside, gliding past a defender before executing a smooth chop that completely wrong-footed his defender. With precision, he slotted the ball firmly into the bottom left corner, leaving the goalkeeper with no chance.
His second goal was the ending of a beautiful team effort and chemistry of the squad. Nearly every outfield player had a touch on the ball in a move that was a slick one-two between sophomore Mohamed Ameen and Elsendyouney, setting up Elsendyouney for a composed finish to complete his brace.
It was not just about the goals. Elsendyouney’s linking play pressed high and created opportunities for teammates. His ability to stay calm under pressure and execute when it mattered most helped define the game.
As the season progresses, performances like this one suggest that Elsendyouney will continue to be a great player, not just for his individual brilliance, but for the way he elevates the entire team around him.
¨Adam was spectacular on the ball on every buildup play for some assists or the goal,” spectator in the stands, parent of a player, Mrs. Quiuqui said. “He worked very hard to get there, and his work needs to be appreciated.¨
Looking ahead, if the team can maintain this level of performance and continue building on the chemistry they’ve shown, they could finish the season with outstanding stats. Better yet, they have the potential to be one of the top teams in the league. Their strength/discipline and ability to make plays give them a real edge over the competition.
Elsendyouney and the South Windsor Bobcats play September 11 against the Lewis Mills’ Spartans. The coaching staff and the players are all excited, for a physical matchup against the physical team and hopefully Elsendyouney can shine bright once again.
