The South Windsor Junior Varsity Soccer Team traveled to Manchester High School on September 8th for the 2nd league game of the season. South Windsor JV’s last game ended on the closer side of things with a score of 3-1 against Avon, many thought the Manchester game would be more of the same. This game though, unlike any other, would lead to a bone crushing win.
As the first kick of the game went, it seemed only a few seconds before the first goal was scored. But it did not stop there. Each play led to an opportunity for South Windsor. Each ball played 50/50 into the midfield with South Windsor taking the chance and ferociously getting to it. Anything that got into the Bobcats’ defense’s third was exterminated with Manchester not seeing the light for a single opportunity. Goal after goal after goal, each one rapid and concise.
“It felt like a walk in the park because their defense could be broken down very easily and no one was working hard enough,” sophomore Douglas Quiuqui said.
The likes of freshman Adam Elsendyouney, Quiuqiu, sophomore Ameen Merzougui, sophomore Matthew Aasen, sophomore Beyan Mohamed, freshman Arshab Pattaniak, freshman Dillon Leacu, junior Basel Taleb, and others, too many to count had scored.
The crowd watched, some in horror, some in awe, of what was unfolding. The leading contributors of the game were all beautiful to watch.
Merzougui had perfect positioning with his brace. As well, Quiuqui scored 2 from outside the box, lovely goals. Elsendyouney glided past defenders to get his double. Pattaniak and Leacu both embarrassed defenders left and right with assists and goals for each. The top scorer of the game, Basel, had 3 wonderfully placed goals, a hat-trick to send everyone into a frenzy.
Coach Chris Garrahan was the tactical mastermind of all of this.
“We score only good, quality goals,” Garrahan said.
Even goalkeeper, sophomore Aniron Pal, got into the action with an assist to up his season stats. The defense had an easy game, with almost no action in their final third.
“Yeah it felt good,” sophomore Aiden Chandeng said. “My mindset during the game was just to win.”
Freshman Hussien Taleb had a phenomenal backline performance even playing out of position at center defensive midfielder, calm and composed both ways.
The score ended with a thrashing, 15-0, some say more, too many goals to count. South Windsor JV is currently undefeated thus far in the season; their next game at home on September 11th.
