Morgan’s Message Ambassador is a world-wide mental health awareness program inspired by Morgan Rodgers, a former Division I women’s lacrosse player at Duke University, whose life was tragically cut short following a sports injury and mental health struggles.
The main goal of Morgan’s Message is to eliminate the stigma surrounding mental health in athletes. This past Friday morning, members of the SADD club came together with Morgan’s Message club members to write positive messages in chalk on the sidewalks leading up to school.
This was a great change of pace from the stressful day of the science fair and proved as a reminder that everyone is valued.
“We hope that these messages brighten someone’s day and are a positive close out to mental health awareness month!” Olivia Stoner said.
Individuals who came to judge the science fair commented about how the messages made their day. Many students were happy to contribute and enjoyed the kind words as they walked into school.
“It felt good to spread positive messages in a creative outlet. It made my day better,” Arianna Graves said.
Teachers and parents can help support Morgan’s Message Ambassador and SADD efforts by checking in on students and reminding them that they are proud of their accomplishments.
