The end of this school year also marks the end of Mrs. Holt’s long career as one of the most loved physical education teachers at South Windsor High School. After 33 years of teaching, Mrs. Holt has decided to retire from teaching and pursue other interests and passions.
In her time at South Windsor High School, Mrs. Holt has left a lasting impact on students by creating a welcoming and supportive environment. Her passion for teaching physical education is matched by her genuine care for each student’s well-being, building confidence in others. No matter what she was doing, Mrs. Holt consistently inspired students to challenge themselves and stay active for life.
Mrs. Holt helped me a lot throughout the archery unit,” sophomore Aanya Shah said. “I struggled a bit in that unit, but she would help me be better and teach me techniques on how to improve myself.”
Even though Mrs. Holt will no longer be teaching at SWHS, she will most certainly not be forgotten. She knows that her time at the High School has been fulfilling for both her and her students, but it’s time to move on to the next phase of her life.
“Thirty years was my original goal because that’s a pretty long time [to teach], and I committed to doing more than that,” Mrs Holt said ,“and so I was ready to make that change.”
As she steps into retirement, Mrs. Holt looks forward to spending time with her family all the while remaining physically active. While she will miss the community that she’s interacted with over the years of her career; she’s excited.
Mrs. Holt’s presence at SWHS will be deeply missed, but her legacy will continue to inspire both staff and students for years to come. We thank her for her incredible dedication to her work and wish her all the best in her well-earned retirement.
