The South Windsor girls’ varsity lacrosse team secured their first win of the season with an 8–6 victory over RHAM High School on Friday, April 25th at home.
The Bobcats came out strong, leading 8–2 by halftime thanks to a dominant team performance on both ends of the field. Freshman Molly Willard, who played low defense, credited the defensive success to smart strategy.
“We did a great job sliding and fronting cutters, which really helped shut down their offense,” Willard explained.
Senior Mady Syme highlighted the team’s all-around effort.
“Everyone stepped up and brought something onto the field to get us the win,” Syme said.
RHAM mounted a physical second-half comeback with aggressive checks and pushes, but South Windsor’s defense held firm.
“This game definitely showed how we work together as a team,” said Willard. “Everyone played a key role in leading us to victory, while still having fun out there.”
Offensively, the Bobcats shared the scoring load.
“Our team was able to connect with one another,” said senior Jillian Yelle. “There wasn’t one person who scored all the goals , we all contributed and communicated effectively.”
RHAM’s record now stands at 2–2 for the 2025 spring season, with wins against Newington and Bacon Academy and losses to Mercy and South Windsor. Their earlier 13–12 victory over Newington was notable, as Newington has been a tough opponent for South Windsor in past seasons.
The Bobcats hope to carry this momentum into their upcoming games as they continue to build chemistry and confidence on the field.
