The Best of Hartford contest is back, shining a spotlight on the top local businesses. Hosted annually by The Hartford Courant, this competition celebrates businesses and gives customers the chance to show their support for their favorite local place.
This year’s contest officially kicked off on February 20, 2025, with hundreds of businesses nominated across a wide range of categories, including Auto, Entertainment, Finance, Food & Drink, Health & Wellness, Home, Pets, Local People, Professional Services, Retail, and Weddings.
A special shout-out goes to Bird House Coffee, one of South Windsor’s favorite local spots, which has been nominated in the Best of Hartford 2025 contest. Known for its cozy atmosphere, delicious drinks, and welcoming vibe, Bird House Coffee is more than just a café, it’s a community hangout.
“I like just getting a nice cup of hot coffee, sitting on their comfortable couches, and catching up with friends,” said South Windsor High School staff member Brie Balducci. “It’s a good atmosphere for drinking coffee and socializing.”
The café is also a go-to study spot for students. “Birdhouse is so calming—sometimes I go to sit and do my homework,” shared SWHS freshman Ava Sherrell.
Our South Windsor locals are proud to be able to support the small businesses that make our town thrive. Bird House Coffee is a place for all ages and all people to come enjoy. Whether you’re visiting for a place to do work, a place to eat good food, or a place to try different fun coffee flavors.
Voting for the contest is now live at www.courant.com/best-of and runs through April 25, 2025.
There is a new twist to the event this year. Participants who vote for a minimum of ten categories will be entered to win one of three visa gift cards valued at $300, $200, and $100.
