South Windsor High School’s Student Council hosted their annual trivia night on April 4th. Students and teachers came together to form teams of five to compete for first place.
Trivia Night allowed students to lean back and participate in a fun friendly activity.
The event consisted of raffles, free food, friendly rivalry and trivia. The sooner teams signed up the more bonus points they received. All students, staff, and faculty participated, going head-to-head for first place.
There were 8 different categories, each consisting of 5 questions for teams to test their knowledge on. The top teams win a mystery prize along with giveaways for everyone participating.
Trivia night has been hosted for several years now, each year becoming a student body favorite.
“It’s one of the biggest events for Student Council; it’s always so much fun,” Student Council President, Sophia Ghagare commented.
The Student Council has spent countless hours preparing for trivia night. Members of the student council had to call and contact several local businesses seeking out food and raffle donations to boost the energy of the event.
Yet, despite the amount of energy it took, Ghagare reflects “it was a lot of work, but it was all worth it seeing everyone have so much fun.”
Commencing at 6 pm, a whopping thirty five teams came together and began trivia. In total, there were eight categories ranging from pop-culture to life at South Windsor High School.
In between each round, the Student Council pulled two raffle tickets with winners selecting from a large pool of prizes.
“This was my third year playing. I loved the energy Sophia and Jada brought while hosting,” junior Gwen Girard said.
By the end of the night, the walls bounced off sounds of excitement as the winner of trivia night was announced. For the first time in trivia night history, two teams tied for third place. In honor of UConn, the tie breaking question “How many points did Paige Beckers score in her highest scoring game?” announced the third place winner.
In third place, Mr. Jay Garish, Meera Kannan, Vikki Vikas, and Janani Jaisankar
Second place went to Mrs.Goslin, Mrs.Andrews, Mr.Snyder, Mrs.Beams, Mr.Cioe
And finally, in first place Gurshan Litt, Ashwin Nair and Satvik Kadappanavar
