The Beavers went on to finish the game with a final score of 48-41, that set up a face off between The Wolverines and Beavers the next day at South Windsor High School’s basketball court.
In their previous matchup, the Beavers defeated the Wolverines 38-25 but knew they needed to adjust their tactics to win this time.
“Everyone doubted us, but it just pushed us to work harder and fight for that championship spot, ” junior Isaac Gerber stated.
With a very close game throughout all 4 quarters, The Wolverines came up on top winning 47-35 and becoming the 2025 South Windsor Rec Basketball Champions.
Gerber and junior Dom MacNeil have played together for three years under the coaching of their parents, securing their third consecutive rec championship victory.
“We beat the #1 and #2 seed and that was aura. We are on the greatest rec basketball run of all time,” Gerber stated.
“Winning three in a row isn’t about one-star player—it’s about a whole team stepping up, trusting each other, and making big plays when it counts. Coaching them has been the best ride for [coach] Jen and me… and I’m still amazed they actually listened to us sometimes!” Coach Gerber told The Prowl.
“I feel great. We worked hard to get here and were going for the 4 peat next year; we were the underdogs and came in and finished business,” MacNeil explained.
