As of the 2025-26 school year, both the South Windsor High School Annex and the Board of Education will be undergoing a transition. The location of the Board of Education will now be relocated to the SWHS Annex to make room for more classrooms at the middle school.
Previously, the Board of Education met in the Alt 6 section of Timothy Edwards Middle School. However, due to instructional needs of the middle school, the location was agreed to be moved to the High School Annex.
This move will free up the needed instructional space for two new classrooms at TEMS.
“The move will not impact the High School Annex, as the Board of Education meetings will take place in the multi-purpose meeting room,” Board of Education Communications Specialist, Diane Becker, responded in an email to The Prowl when asked how this might impact the community.
The move is estimated to cost approximately $28,000 to outfit the Annex meeting room with equipment to broadcast the meetings to the town, which was presented by Dr. Kate Carter as part of her Superintendent’s Proposed Budget presentation to the Board on January 8, 2025.
“This is a wise investment as the cost to add two additional classrooms to Timothy Edwards Middle School with portables would be close to $1 million,” Becker wrote.
