Despite starting his basketball season on junior varsity, Kevin Wind’s skill in the sport is only growing, now leading the charge on varsity after earning his new spot in the starting lineup for the Bobcats varsity basketball team.
In his recent game against Weaver, Wind showed he earned his spot with several big shots that helped the ‘Cats leave with a winning score of 66-61.
“My last game against Weaver was my best game yet,” Wind said.
Kevin Wind’s love for the sport started back when he was in the second grade.
“My favorite thing about playing basketball is getting to play the sport I love with all my friends.” The love has since only grown. He still enjoys playing and always will, “I love the sport and the people I play with,” Wind said.
His passion for the game didn’t start with him though, but with his brothers.
“My brothers inspired me to play basketball at a young age and ever since then I’ve loved the sport,” Wind stated. Family is a strong motivator and at a young age, Wind was fortunate enough to be able to look up to his brothers and wanted to follow in their footsteps.
Wind didn’t just accidentally fall into the starting varsity line up, he had to work for it. His work ethic in practice would transfer over to his junior varsity games.
“I put in a lot of work during practice and during JV games,” Wind said. He’d do all the right things and show up every day with the intention of improving. He wanted to move up to varsity and Wind knew he was going to have to be constantly working at it.
“I would show how I’m ready for varsity and do the things that coach would want to see at the varsity level,” Wind told The Prowl.
With his sophomore season coming to a close, Wind’s future remains bright with two more years left to play and he’ll certainly only continue to improve.
