On Saturday, February 22nd, the Beavers took care of business and demolished the Ducks with a brutal final score of 51-35.
Prior to this matchup, the Ducks had been undefeated with a record of 6-0 becoming the most hated team in Rec Basketball. However, the Beavers decided to switch up their tactics in order to come up on top and do what any other team couldn’t, defeat the Ducks.
Leading scorer on the Beavers, Will Castelhano, recalled the last time they faced the Ducks as they lost with a close game of 41-34. But after shifting a few tactics, the outcome was much different.
“Going into the game we had no doubt that if we played our game we would get the outcome we wanted. Jobs not finished though, the celebration will have to hold off until we are the Rec champs,” Castelhano stated.
With a current record of 6-1 the Beavers have everything they need in order to be successful for the rest of the season.
“I’m happy with our team’s outcome. We really showed our true team ability in today’s game and were just going to get stronger from here on out, senior Tyler Romero explained.
As the Rec season progresses, all teams are improving their performance, strengthening their game in preparation for the championship match.
“We are coming for the chip, I don’t think any of this would be possible without the amazing team chemistry we have. I love my team,” senior Fadel Kafel told The Prowl.
Additionally the Wolverines were victorious over the Wildcats, with a final score of 38-19 and the Spartans defeated the Buckeyes with a final score of 48-17.
As the season comes to a close, all eyes are on the Beavers. Will they continue to win, or will someone else attempt to dethrone them? We will see, but one thing is for certain, the Rec league just got a whole lot more interesting.
The Beavers next opponent is the Buckeyes. They will face off at Pleasant Valley Elementary School, 6:00pm, where the Beavers hope to keep their winning streak alive.
