The FBLA hosted a cookie decorating fundraiser on Monday, December 16th, where students gathered together to decorate cookies and raise money for future FBLA activities.
It cost $5 to enter and decorate one cookie, with an additional fee of $3 for every extra cookie decorated. The money that they save up will go towards future events for the FBLA club.
The decorating took place in the Annex cafeteria after school. Trays of fresh sugar cookies were provided by Mrs. Sullivan’s baking class, and had been cut out and baked in festive shapes for the holiday season, including snowmen, snowflakes, candy canes, and sleighs.
Students could pick out their favorite cookie shape, and then choose from a wide assortment of frostings and sprinkles.
The frosting and sprinkles used to decorate were part of a donation to the club from Stop & Shop. FBLA members wrote a letter asking for a donation, and received a gift certificate that could be used to purchase the necessary supplies.
Lots of planning went into hosting this activity, and it truly was a team effort to organize it.
“When planning a fundraiser, it’s crucial to have a reliable team you can count on to get the work done. For me, this included a few of my committee members and having lots of help from our treasurer. Having a solid team made the planning and execution much smoother, reducing the chances of big mistakes, like forgetting something important,” said Avaneesh Savkar, SWHS sophomore and FBLA member who was involved in planning the cookie decorating.
This is one of many FBLA fundraisers that have been held this year, and all the proceeds are going towards funding a bus to take SWHS students to their FBLA competition in the spring.
“I thought the fundraiser was really fun; it was nice seeing everyone and just hanging out with everyone,” said Bavithra Rajmohan, sophomore and FBLA member who attended the event.
FBLA’s cookie decorating was a fun and festive way to raise money for the club while spreading holiday cheer.
