Disney is making a live-action movie of iconic early 2000’s show Kim Possible. In a February 7th tweet, Disney announced the upcoming film now sending social media into a frenzy. Many teens remember growing up with the show, the red-headed heroine an idol for the young viewers.

“Call me, beep me, if you want a #KimPossible DCOM! Casting has just begun for live-action Kim Possible Disney Channel Original Movie. Who would you love to see play Kim?” Asked Disney’s social media team Wednesday morning. Twitter blew up with suggestions like Mortal Instruments Star Kat McNamara, former Disney dancer Bella Thorne, Riverdale vixen Madison Petsch, and new Stranger Things star Sadie Sink. Many are also worried that the live-action take will ruin their favorite childhood shows, with user @calets_streets replying disgruntledly: “Can you just not ruin my childhood. Like for once leave it alone and not destroy a perfectly good memory.”

With the show’s five year run spanning from 2002-2007, the fierce, fiery female is ingrained into the hearts of the teen generation. It is considered one of Disney’s most successful shows, even racking up an Emmy nomination in 2003 for outstanding animated program. The cartoon spun off into two full-length movies, meaning there is great anticipation surrounding this new take on the series. Who will play the loveable Ron? Will they bring back the classic villains of Shego, Dr. Drakken, and Monkey Fist? Will her iconic beeper that alerted her of danger be replaced by a modern smartphone? And will the adorable naked-mole-rat Rufus be played by a real rat or is it again time for CGI animated magic?

Disney has had a recent wave of transforming classic animations into live-action films with big name stars. A live take on Mulan and Aladdin both announced cast lists for the films set to air in 2019. Social media was buzzing when Disney announced the voice actors for the live-action Lion King film, featuring heavy hitters like Beyonce as Nala, rapper/actor Donald Glover as Simba, Seth Rogen as Pumba, and late-night comedian John Oliver as Zazu. Disney’s turn for live-action remakes is not without cause; the live Beauty and the Beast obtained success with Emma Watson taking the starring role, grossing $1 billion in box office sales. Both Disney and the bevy of teens who grew up watching Kim Possible slay on TV are hoping for success with this new film.
