On Saturday February 4th, 2018, the SWHS Choral Spectrum group took part in their first competition this year at Shepherd Hill High School in Dudley Massachusetts, eventually winning third place!

“I’m just so proud of everybody,” states SWHS sophomore Will Harper. “We worked so hard and we took home the gold. Every group was amazing and very supportive. It was overall so fun to be apart of!”

Spectrum was one of the many groups performing, our schools Show Choir group performing at around 8:30. However, even with this in mind, the group got arrived back to the high school at 1 am! A huge chunk of their Saturday was taken up by the groups participation in the event.

“Yesterday went really well though,” says SWHS senior Mariana Makos. “We got gold which is almost unheard of for us at our first competition, and we got third place! The best part is there were only 4 points separating the top three groups. We got 797.5, the second place group got 799.0, and the grand champs got 800.5. And out of the four individual judges’ rankings, two of them we had were in first place! And to top it all off I got to hold the trophy on the bus ride back! It was definitely one of the best competitions I’ve been to.”
