Every year, the South Windsor community hosts a Halloween tour of houses that are emblazoned with festive decorations and lights. On October 18th, this year’s map was officially revealed, and parents and children are able to walk or drive, following that map, to see all of the different Halloween decorations. Members are able to go through this route at any time during October to be immersed in the Halloween festivities.
“The Halloween tour is pure fun, and it gives people an opportunity to explore new neighborhoods, discover new parts of town, and it definitely helps to develop a sense of community,” Dani Briggs, an owner of one of the houses, told The Prowl.
The Halloween tour map divides South Windsor into four routes, each featuring eight decorated houses across town for convenient access to different neighborhoods. Each section has a Google Maps link providing the fastest route through its designated area. The complete tour, from start to finish, takes approximately 75 to 90 minutes.
On the tour there are a variety of different houses and decorations, from skeletons and gravestones, to pumpkins and scarecrows. It’s a family-friendly outing ideal for young children, who are sure to be thrilled by the variety of creative displays.
Briggs has turned her love of Halloween into a passion project, transforming her home with elaborate seasonal displays.
“I just thought it was really cool, and so I discovered Halloween decorating in a big way,” Daniela Briggs said.
The tour also appeals to older teens and adults as well. This is a cool experience for anyone who wants to get into the Halloween spirit because it helps keep you excited for what you might see next, and helps get you ready for Halloween.
“I had a lot of fun going on the tour, and I think it was a great way to get into the Halloween spirit. I also think this is great for people who don’t like scary things but still want to enjoy the holiday,” junior Kayla Pinkin said.
