December 11, 2017
The holiday season is here! Time for all of the festivities and celebration that people crave all year long. Whether it be sitting home watching your favorite holiday movie, setting up an extravagant light display outside your home or nonstop shopping, we all have our own special ways of ringing in the season of happiness.
However, we have also had times where we find ourselves bored and without anything to do during this season. Below is a list of some unique holiday activities that are local, far away or even within your very own home will definitely make this special time much more enjoyable.
- Gather the family and friends to watch those classic holiday movies
Movies like Elf, Home Alone, The Grinch or A Christmas Story are just a few of the many great holiday films that exist. Spend the night with family or friends and have a movie marathon, a perfect opportunity to celebrate the 2017 holidays
- Make the trip to Manhattan to immerse yourself in all of the festivities
New York attracts millions of visitors every holiday season because of all they have to offer. Ranging from the ice skating rinks of Central Park, Bryant Park and Rockefeller Center to the famous Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree, you will never find yourself looking for something to do during the holidays in New York. Try to get tickets to a show at Radio City Music Hall to see the Rockettes Christmas Spectacular. New York City during the holidays is a must see, however, be prepared to face enormous crowds
- Visit local light displays
There are dozens of light displays across Connecticut and the region that are well worth a visit. In fact, in South Windsor we have a beautiful light display of our own at the corner of Felt Road and Oakland Road. If you are willing to leave town to see some of these amazing displays for yourself, Forest Park in Springfield, Hubbard Park in Meriden and Goodwin Park in Hartford are some of the well known holiday displays that are perfect for any family looking for something for the whole family to enjoy
- Attend A Holiday Show
Aside from the Rockettes Christmas Spectacular, which was already mentioned, there are a wide range of different holiday shows in Connecticut that surely will boost the holiday spirit. A Connecticut Christmas Carol, A Christmas Story, A Charlie Brown Christmas Story, The Hartford Symphony Orchestra and The Nutcracker are just a few of the many performances to see nearby.
